Updating the SDK

Working with an agent?

You can ask Claude to handle the update instead of running the command yourself. It upgrades the package, refreshes the managed files, and reminds you to start a new session so the updated skills load. See Getting Started With Agents.

Your workspace checks for a new SDK version at the start of every Claude session. When one is available, Claude asks whether to update before doing anything else.

To update at any time, run this in the workspace root:

Update the SDK and its managed files
uv run dda-update

It upgrades the dda-sdk package and refreshes the managed files: .claude/skills/, docs/, CLAUDE.md and .claude/settings.json.

Your own files are never touched: .env, projects/, CLAUDE.local.md and .claude/settings.local.json.

Start a new Claude session afterwards so the refreshed skills are picked up.

Read before you update

While the SDK is in limited preview, a release can change table names, columns or function signatures. Ask your IndieBI contact what changed before updating a workspace that feeds a pipeline or a report someone depends on.
